We welcome visitors from across the globe and at all career stages. Several prestigious fellowship programs provide funding to support visits, while the UC Berkeley International Office and our visitor support services are here to help with accommodations and visas.

Visitors from Germany

Postdoctoral researchers who live or study in Germany may apply for an ICSI-DAAD International Fellowship. Supported by the DAAD International IFI Fellows Program, this opportunity provides funding for visitors to conduct research with an ICSI-affiliated mentor for a period of 3 to 24 months.

Visitors from Italy

Postdoctoral researchers who live or study in Italy may apply for an ICSI-Fulbright Italy Commission Postdoctoral Scholarship. This program provides funding for visitors to conduct research with an ICSI-affiliated mentor for a period of 6 months. The application deadline for the 2025-26 academic year is February 5, 2025.

Visitors from Finland

Doctoral and postdoctoral researchers affiliated with the University of Helsinki or Aalto University may apply for a FARIA-ICSI International Researcher Fellowship. Supported by the Finnish-American Research and Innovation Accelerator, this program provides funding for visitors to conduct research with an ICSI-affiliated mentor for a period of 6 to 12 months.

Professors and research scientists at ICSI, UC Berkeley, and Lawrence Berkeley National Lab are invited to serve as mentors for our international visitors, whose stipends are supported by our international partners. Contact us to inquire about opportunities to serve as a mentor.
