Board Member Receives IJCAI Donald E. Walker Distinguished Service Award

Professor Wolfgang Wahlster, a member of the ICSI Board of Trustees, is the recipient of the 2013 IJCAI Donald E. Walker Distinguished Service Award for his substantial contributions and his extensive service to the field of artificial intelligence throughout his career. The award will be presented during the opening ceremony of the 23rd International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Beijing, China in August. "I feel deeply honored and very privileged to be recognized by IJCAI," Wahlster said. "I was greatly touched by the message from the IJCAI president." Wolfgang Wahlster is the director and CEO of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI GmbH) and a professor of computer science at Saarland University.
The Distinguished Service Award was established in 1979 by the IJCAI Trustees to honor senior scientists in artificial intelligence for contributions and service to the field during their careers. Past recipients include Barbara Grosz in 2001, who is also on the Board of Trustees. Read more about IJCAI awards.
