ICSI High School Internship Program

In June 2022, the International Computer Science Institute (ICSI) in Berkeley, CA, launched a new high school internship program spearheaded by Dr. Primal Wijesekera. The program is designed to excite, inspire, and educate students about the field of computer science. Participants will gain insight into some of the relevant fieldwork and research at ICSI and UC Berkeley through one on one meetings with scientists. After speaking with scientists working on a wide range of computer science topics, they will select a project that interests them to dive into more deeply. The students also will have the opportunity to meet with women researchers in computer science and data science to discuss strategies for success in STEM careers, and hopefully to be inspired to consider computer science as a potential career path.

This program is part of ICSI’s broadening participation in computer science program, which is sponsored through research grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF).
