Eric Friedman of Research Initiatives and Colleague Win SIGecom Test of Time Award
June 24, 2015
Eric Friedman of Research Initiatives has received the 2015 SIGecom Test of Time Award, given each year for a paper published 10 or more years in the past that has had significant impact on research or applications that exemplify the interplay of economics and computation. SIGecom is the ACM Special Interest Group on Electronic Commerce. Friedman shares the award with Paul Resnick, with whom he wrote "The Social Costs of Cheap Pseudonyms," published in the Journal of Economics and Management Strategy in 2001. At the time, Friedman was a professor of economics at Rutgers University. Since he moved to ICSI in 2011, he has focused on applications of complex networks to the study of brain disorders, and cost allocation in applied mathematics, economics, and computer science. Friedman and Resnick received the award at the ACM Conference on Economics and Computation, held June 15-19 in Portland, Oregon.
